Manage automatic updates

To-Increase offers several apps that are designed in Anywhere mobility studio. For example, Anywhere for Logistics. For these apps, monthly updates are released and available as deployable package in LCS.
To get app updates in your D365 FO environment, install the deployable package. For Anywhere apps, after the installation, several elements must be refreshed or updated in your D365 FO environment to make the changes available:
  • Libraries
  • Applications
  • Style sheets
If you run the app from cache, also the cache must be updated with the changes.
For informational purposes, the portal version and latest update are also shown.

It does not consider the automatic update parameters and the value of the Update check box for a record.When the scan is completed, and for a currently available record, the current version is:Different from the new version, an update is required, and the record is marked with the  icon.The same as the new version, no update is required, and the record is marked with the  icon. Procedure 1. Click Mobility management. 2. Click Parameters. 3. Click the Automatic update tab. 4. Click Scan. 5. Sub-task: Define batch settings. 6. Expand the Run in the background section. 7. Select Yes in the Batch processing field and fill in the other batch fields as required. 8. Click OK. Select Yes in the Link libraries to applications field. 7. For each application to be updated, select the Update check box. 8. For each style sheet to be updated, select the Update check box. 9. For each cache line to be updated, select the Update check box. 10. Close the page. Notes Usually, you update in line with the monthly updates. You can do so in a recurring batch. But if you want control on what is updated, you can also first scan and manually start a full or element-specific update batch. You can refresh or update  elements separately You can refresh or update  elements separately Refresh libraries Refresh libraries Before you start the design of an application configuration, make sure the libraries are up-to-date.Each library is related to a model in D365 FO. A library can have these elements:ActionsTest actionsFunctionsTest functionsQueriesOn Refresh, for each model with extensions of specific classes, a library is created or updated. The library name is the same as the model name. For each found extension of these specific classes, the related element is created or updated in the library. If you use a mobile app that uses a library, the related model is checked for a license. If a license is defined for the model the related license count is updated.You can refresh the libraries on the:Mobility design workspace, on the Libraries tab (explained in the steps).Anywhere mobility studio parameters, on the Automatic updates tab, in the Libraries section. If you do so, check the Update libraries and Add new libraries parameter settings. For more information, refer to Set automatic update parameters. Procedure 1. Click Mobility design. 2. Click the Libraries tab. 3. Click Refresh. 4. In the Refresh field, select an option. 5. Besides updating the already listed libraries, you can have new libraries added. Select Yes in the Add new libraries field. Note: If you select No, only the already listed libraries are updated. 6. Click OK. 7. On the Libraries tab, in the list, select a library. 8. Click View. 9. You can review the actions in the library. For each action, you can review: - The details on the Details tab. - Where it is used on the Where used tab. - The applicable parameters on the Parameters tab. Click the Actions tab. Note: You can refresh the actions of the library. To do so, on the Actions tab, click Refresh. 10. You can review the test actions in the library. For each test action, you can review: - The details on the Details tab. - Where it is used on the Where used tab. - The applicable parameters on the Parameters tab. Click the Test actions tab. Note: You can refresh the test actions of the library. To do so, on the Test actions tab, click Refresh. 11. You can review the functions in the library. For each function, you can review: - The details on the Details tab. - Where it is used on the Where used tab. Click the Functions tab. Note: You can refresh the functions of the library. To do so, on the Functions tab, click Refresh. 12. You can review the test functions in the library. New applications are always added. Procedure 1. Click Mobility management. 2. Click Parameters. 3. Click the Automatic update tab. 4. Click Update. Note: Before you click Update, check: - The Attach libraries to applications parameter setting. - If for the relevant records the Update check box is selected. Update style sheets Update style sheets If you have installed a deployable package to upgrade an Anywhere app in your D365 FO environment, you can update the style sheets in your D365 FO environment to make the changes available.It can be useful to scan before you do an update. Update cache Update cache Running an app on the real-time configuration in Anywhere mobility studio can be slow in a Tier 2 environment. In this case, you can choose to run an app on a cached configuration. This is faster, but the app can be outdated.You can publish a menu or a process to cache for the first time or to update the cache.You can publish to cache or update cache on the:Mobility management workspace, on the Menus tab (explained in the steps).Mobility design workspace, on the Processes tab.Anywhere mobility studio parameters, on the Automatic updates tab, in the Cache section. Note: Cache is only published or updated for the menus for which the Update check box is selected. Procedure 1. Click Mobility management. 2. Click the Menus tab. 3. In the list, find and select the desired menus. 4. Click Publish cache. 5. In the Publish type field, select an option. 6. Expand the Run in the background section. 7. Refresh libraries

On update of style sheets, only the style sheets with the Update check box selected, are updated. New style sheets are always added.

Update cache

Administrator

 		Running an app on the real-time configuration in Anywhere mobility studio can be slow in a Tier 2 environment. In this case, you can choose to run an app on a cached configuration. This is faster, but the app can be outdated.
You can publish a menu or a process to cache for the first time or to update the cache.
You can publish to cache or update cache on the:
  • Mobility management workspace, on the Menus tab (explained in the steps).
  • Mobility design workspace, on the Processes tab.
  • Anywhere mobility studio parameters, on the Automatic updates tab, in the Cache section. Note: Cache is only published or updated for the menus for which the Update check box is selected.
